The SYNERGIE magazine of the German Centers for Health Research has won the Berlin Type silver award. The Berliner Type competition honors the best print products from Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

Research for health - via this motto, the German Centers for Health Research (DZG) report twice a year on projects and successes in translational research within the SYNERGIE magazine. The magazine for health research shows how interdisciplinary and networked research can help people achieve better health. The agency wirDesign communication AG is responsible for the graphic design and conception of the magazine.

The magazine has now been awarded the Berliner Type silver prize in the B2C - Magazines / Periodicals category. With the award, the jury honored the expressive design of the SYNERGIE magazine, which shows with intense color, precision and vividness the diversity and depth of the research topics with which the DZG is committed to fighting the major widespread diseases of cancer, diabetes, cardiovascular, infectious, pulmonary and neurodegenerative diseases.

A total of more than 80 sites with more than one hundred participating universities, university clinics and non-university research institutions make up the four Centers of Health Research established in 2011 and 2012 for infectious diseases (DZIF), cardiovascular diseases (DZHK), lung diseases (DZL) and cancer (DKTK), as well as the two Centers for Neurodegenerative Diseases (DZNE) and for Diabetes Research (DZD) already established in 2009.

The German Centers for Health Research work closely together to exchange experience and exploit synergies. In this way, they aim to develop better therapies and diagnostic procedures for the major common diseases. The German Centers for Health Research are funded by the BMBF and the host states.
