Vorlesungen

TERMINE - DIGITALE VORLESUNGEN - 16:45 - 18:00 Uhr

23.09.2020 - Anmeldung

IPF - Exacerbation
Prof. Dr. med. Michael Kreuter

Zentrum für Interstitielle Lungenerkrankungen; Thoraxklinik Heidelberg; TLRC

Moderation:
Prof. Silke Meiners (CPC-M) /
Vivien Somogyi (TLRC)

Acute exacerbation of idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) is one of the most severe and deadly complications in IPF. Michael Kreuter will discuss current knowledge on aetiology and clinical manifestation as well as state of the art preventive, diagnostic and therapeutic approaches including the knowns and unknowns from a clinical perspective.

30.09.2020 - Anmeldung

COPD - Exacerbation
apl. Prof. Dr. Rembert Koczulla

Universitätsklinikum Marburg, Klinik für Pneumologie (UGMLC)

Moderation:
PD Dr. med. Nikolaus Kneidinger (CPC-M) / Stefan Hadzic (UGMLC)

Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) is one of the leading causes of mortality worldwide, and acute exacerbations contribute substantially to this. COPD was the fifth leading cause of death in 2002 and will rank third by 2030. Rembert Koczulla will discuss current knowledge on aetiology and clinical manifestation as well as state of the art preventive, diagnostic and therapeutic approaches from a clinical perspective.

21.10.2020 - Anmeldung

Lung regeneration and stem cell research
Dr. Ruth Olmer &  Prof. Dr. med. Ulrich Martin

Leibniz-Forschungslabor für Biotechnologie und künstliche Organe, MHH (BREATH)

Moderation:  ... / Carola Voss (CPC-M)

The lecture will discuss progenitor cell populations present in the adult lung and their role in lung regeneration and disease. Furthermore, insights from stem cell research towards generation of respiratory (progenitor) cells from pluripotent stem cells as model for lung diseases and potential therapeutic strategies will be presented.

28.10.2020 - Anmeldung

Microbiome
Dr. Sébastien Boutin

Medical Microbiology, Universitätsklinikum Heidelberg (TLRC)

Moderation:
Prof. Dr. rer. nat. habil. Michael Schloter (CPC-M) / Joni Lund (ARCN)

The lecture will inform about the core concept of the human microbiome. Sébastien Boutin will explore methods used to study and analyze the microbiome, including models of ecology and evolution and specific modes of adaptation of the lung microbiome. A “state-of-the-art” review will be presented on the impact of the microbiome on acute and chronic lung disease.

18.11.2020 - Anmeldung

Machine Learning
Dr. Damian Gola

Institut für Med. Biom. & Statistik, Lübeck (ARCN)

Moderation:

... / Victoria Palm (TLRC)

More and more data are collected in all areas of healthcare and medicine in the form of omics information, imaging and electronic health records. To sharpen the phycician’s picture of the individual patient based on these data requires powerful algorithms and data handling techniques. This lecture will give an intuitive introduction to the most common machine learning algorithms used today, using acute and chronic lung diseases as examples.

25.11.2020 - Anmeldung

Transgenerational mouse model
Prof. Dr. Susanne Krauss-Etschmann

Research Center Borstel (ARCN)

Moderation:
Prof. Dr. Christoph Plass (TLRC) /
Joschka Hey (TLRC)

The risk to develop lung disesease is often estalished in early life and maybe even preconceptionally but the underlying mechanisms are insufficiently understood. This lecture will summarize experimental research in the field and discuss pros and cons of different animal models in inter- and transgenerational research.

16.12.2020 - Anmeldung

e-cigarettes
Prof. Dr. Susanne Krauss-Etschmann

Research Center Borstel (ARCN)

Moderation:
Dr. Önder Yilderim (CPC-M) / ...

E-cigarettes are heavily advertised as a healthier alternative to conventional cigarettes and are further described as an aid to support smoking cessation. This marketing strategy also targets highly vulnerable populations such as adolescents and pregnant women with so far unknown effects on their offspring. The lecture summarizes current research on the effects of e-cigarettes on respiratory health with a focus on adolescents and offspring from vaping parents.
