The online Lung Patient Forum on April 8, 2025, was a great success: Over 330 people with lung diseases or their relatives took the opportunity to ask questions to highly respected lung specialists – many received live answers.
The online Lung Patient Forum was the central patient event of the 65th Congress of the German Respiratory Society (DGP), which took place from April 9 to 12, 2025, in Leipzig. The event was organized by the Lung Information Service of Helmholtz Munich, the German Center for Lung Research (DZL), the German Lung Day, and the DGP.
The two-hour Q&A session was moderated by Prof. Dirk Koschel, who is also the congress president of the 65th DGP Congress this year.
The questions were answered by:
Prof. Bianca Schaub (DZL researcher at the CPC-M site) on allergies and asthma in children and adolescents,
Prof. Marek Lommatzsch on asthma in adults,
Prof. Klaus F. Rabe (Director of the DZL site ARCN) on COPD,
Prof. Jessica Rademacher (DZL researcher at the BREATH site) on respiratory infections,
Prof. Jürgen Behr (DZL researcher at the CPC-M site) on pulmonary fibrosis, sarcoidosis, and other interstitial lung diseases,
Prof. H. Ardeschir Ghofrani (DZL researcher at the UGMLC site) on pulmonary hypertension, and
Prof. W. Schütte on lung cancer.
The numerous submitted questions and the overwhelmingly positive feedback from participants show that the format “Patients ask – Experts answer” was very well received.
A summary of the answered questions can be found on the Lung Information Service website (in German language).
