As part of its efforts to involve people with lung diseases in health research and to provide access to clear, reliable, and trustworthy information on lung health and disease, the DZL, in close cooperation with the European Lung Foundation (ELF), supported the publication of the German version of the internationally recognized European Patient Ambassador Programme (EPAP).
This free online course is designed for patients, family members, and caregivers. It helps participants build their skills in accessing health information and engaging with healthcare professionals, policymakers, researchers, and the media.
The programme is suitable for people with any condition and is now available in German, alongside many other languages.
.
The five-part series was developed and produced in close cooperation between DZL site BREATH, Hannover Medical School, and pulmonologist Dr. Meike Jungen. As an experienced specialist, she explains the medical basics of COPD in clear, easy-to-understand language, offers insights into proven treatment options, and demonstrates how those affected can actively contribute to improving their quality of life and positively influencing the course of the disease.
These videos go beyond simply providing information: they ensure that patients have access to a reliable, carefully reviewed, and high-quality educational resource. Family members and other interested individuals will also gain valuable insights to better understand and support those living with COPD.
The training is free of charge, independent of fixed schedules, and accessible online at any time. It is open to everyone and can be started right away: Discover all five modules on YouTube (all modules are held in German language).
