Eight DZL Researchers Among the World’s Most Highly Cited Scientists

In 2025, researchers from the German Center for Lung Research (DZL) are once again counted among the world’s most influential scientists. This year, a total of eight DZL researchers were included by Clarivate Analytics in the “Highly Cited Researchers” list. This recognition honors researchers whose publications are cited exceptionally frequently, demonstrating a significant impact on the global scientific community.

The DZL researchers honored this year (in alphabetical order) are:

  • Prof. Dr. med. Christian Gaebler, Berlin Institute of Health / Charité
  • Prof. Dr. med. Uwe Haberkorn, Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg

  • Prof. Dr. med. Stefan Offermanns, Max-Planck-Institut Bad Nauheim

  • Prof. Dr. med. Martin Reck, LungenClinic Grosshansdorf

  • Prof. Dr. med. Stefan Schreiber, Universitätsklinikum Schleswig-Holstein, Campus Kiel

  • Prof. Dr. Dr. Fabian Theis, Technische Universität München and Helmholtz Zentrum München

  • Prof. Dr. Dr. Thomas Thum, Medizinische Hochschule Hannover

  • Prof. Dr. med. Claus Vogelmeier, Philips Universität Marburg

Worldwide, 6,868 researchers from 60 countries were recognized. Germany ranks fourth globally with 363 researchers, behind the USA, China, and the United Kingdom.
