Dr. Carley Stewart, a DZL early-career researcher at the TLRC site and affiliated with the Department of Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology at Heidelberg University Hospital, has been selected to participate in the DFG Medical Technology Early Career Academy (NAMT) in Berlin. She successfully passed a nationwide competitive selection process in which a total of 20 early-career researchers from German academic research institutions were chosen. Dr. Stewart is a member of the TLRC faculty and leads the DZL-funded early-career group \u201cMultimodal Lung Imaging.\u201d<\/p>\n
The NAMT supports early-career researchers in developing competitive research proposals and taking the first steps toward leading their own DFG-funded research projects.<\/p>\n
This year\u2019s academy was held under the theme \u201cInnovative Medical Imaging in Inflammation\u201d. The scientific program brought together international experts in quantitative biomedical and clinical imaging and presented current developments in areas including high-resolution microscopy, OCT, optical elastography, whole-body MRI, PET, ultrasound, and X-ray imaging.<\/p>\n
During the workshop, participants presented their research ideas, discussed them with leading experts, and further developed their project concepts.<\/p>\n
\u201cI was very honored and pleased to be selected for this training. The personal benefit for me was enormous \u2014 both for grant writing in general and for fine-tuning my own draft proposal in particular. It was highly motivating,\u201d says Carley Stewart.<\/p>\n
The 11th DFG Medical Technology Early Career Academy took place from 12 to 16 January 2026 in Berlin. It was organized by the Graduate School BIOQIC Research Training Group (GRK2260) in collaboration with the SFB1340 (Matrix-in-Vision), the Department of Radiology at Charit\u00e9 \u2013 Universit\u00e4tsmedizin Berlin, as well as colleagues from the University of M\u00fcnster (SFB1450).<\/p>\n
