{"id":56271,"date":"2026-02-24T14:15:21","date_gmt":"2026-02-24T13:15:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dzl.de\/?p=56271"},"modified":"2026-02-24T15:22:26","modified_gmt":"2026-02-24T14:22:26","slug":"mhh-once-again-leads-in-lung-transplantation-in-europe","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dzl.de\/en\/news\/mhh-once-again-leads-in-lung-transplantation-in-europe\/","title":{"rendered":"MHH Once Again Leads in Lung Transplantation in Europe"},"content":{"rendered":"<p data-start=\"287\" data-end=\"550\">In 2025, the Hannover Medical School (MHH), partner institution of the German Center for Lung Research (DZL) at the <a href=\"https:\/\/dzl.de\/en\/sites\/biomedical-research-in-endstage-and-obstructive-lung-disease-breath\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">BREATH site<\/a>, once again ranks as the leading center for lung transplantation in Germany and across the entire Eurotransplant region.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"109\" data-end=\"727\">With a total of 110 transplants performed, including 109 isolated lung transplants and one combined heart-lung transplant, Hannover was able to treat even more critically ill patients than in the previous year. This makes MHH the only center to perform over 100 lung transplants in 2025, accounting for roughly one-third of all procedures in Germany.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"729\" data-end=\"1064\">MHH also demonstrated exceptional strength in the pediatric field. Across all Eurotransplant countries, only twelve children received lung transplants in 2025\u2014and all of these procedures were performed at MHH.
