The new annual report of the German Center for Lung Research (DZL) has been published. It provides a comprehensive overview of the scientific highlights, structural developments, and strategic directions of the past year \u2013 demonstrating how DZL continues to align its research toward clinical application and patient benefit.<\/p>\n
With the start of its fourth funding period (DZL 4.0, 2024\u20132027), the center has further strengthened collaboration within its network. New disease-spanning working groups foster exchange between research areas and create synergies \u2013 for example between COPD and Asthma & Allergies. The areas of Cystic Fibrosis & Bronchiectasis as well as Regeneration & Organ Replacement have also been expanded and refocused.<\/p>\n
The report also highlights scientific progress that exemplifies the strength of DZL: from new insights into asthma prevention and groundbreaking therapy successes in cystic fibrosis to single-cell mapping of the human lung and the development of a drug for pulmonary hypertension.<\/p>\n
These examples illustrate how closely basic research, translational studies, and clinical application are interconnected at DZL \u2013 and how crucial cross-site collaboration is for advancing medical progress.<\/p>\n
